For those of you not from Columbus here is a link to the company (http://www.nationwidechildrens.org/) where I got this photo from. As I'm sure you gathered from the name it is indeed a children's hospital but also has extensive medical research. Many of the students in my program joined labs there and absolutely love it. My last day at OSU is May 2nd and I start my new job May 12th. In between I'll head back to Coe to watch tennis and graduation and make a quick trip up to Minnesota in between.

Happy to announce I am off the job market
Thankfully it didn't take nearly as long as I expected and I am happy to announce today I accepted a position as a Processing & Distribution Research Assistant in the Biopathology Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital. I will be processing and coordinating the distribution of human tumor and tissue samples.

Take a few minutes of your day to watch this
If you haven't heard about the story of Lacey and the Michigan State basketball team, do a quick google search and then watch this video. You won't regret it.

This made me smile today
As some of you may recall, at my previous apartment I had a small, furry roommate that I became quite fond of.
No personally I do not at this time know magic (at least not yet). However, if I ever learn magic I will be sure to learn this trick and perform it on Archie, who will absolutely lose it.
Don't worry I won't be cruel. Just like the dogs in this video Archie will be fed a treat shortly after. You just can't walk away from a face like that.

The internet is turing 25

This story I saw on Hulu was made by Meet the Press' David Gregory in 1994. Crazy (and comical) to watch this today. Have a look.

Decision to leave graduate school
So I don't know if anyone still looks at this anymore but I thought this would be an appropriate time to write. After much thought and consultation with friends in family I have decided to graduate with a Masters Degree and leave Ohio State this May. I wrote a thesis on my research and successfully defended it last Wednesday fulfilling all the necessary requirements for the degree. The reasons for this decision are extensive but in short I decided this was not the best path for me at this current point in my life. As of now I have become looking for jobs. My interest include continuing in Research and Development, Clinical Science, Technology and Technology Transfer, Technical Writing, and other possible avenues. If anyone has any advice or support they would be greatly appreciated.

Things I've been doing other than school last semester
So while last semester was very stressful and busy with school, I still managed to sneak in a few fun things. Outside of what is pictured here I played on 3 intramural sports teams (tennis, soccer, and flag football) and moved into a new apartment which I will try to put up photos soon.
I went to Washington DC for Thanksgiving with my family to visit my aunt and uncle. Here is a photo of me of an outdoor mall complex on the Potomac river.
Although I already had photos of my trip to New York to see my sister I don't think this one is included. This is the part of the trip I ran off with some people from Coe (Lemi, Whitney etc). Here is me photobombing Lemi's attempt to photograph the Julliard School.
I got more involved with the Catholic Newman Center this year as well. In addition to joining a program called Adopt-a-Buckeye and being "adopted" by a wonderful family, this year there was also a graduate/professional student group formed as well. Here are two photos of a service day event we did doing yard work which was a lot of fun. Everyone in the group was extremely nice and hopefully we continue to participate in fun events.
For Halloween I went with my friends Kiel and JT (both actually from Minnesota) to the Short North area for an event called High Ball Halloween. It was a pretty cool event with outdoor music, food/drink, and a Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead celebration). We decided to coordinate our costumes as Star Trek characters. The joke is that the guys in red are the ones that always die in Star Trek episodes. Thankfully we all made it home alive although it was very cold that night. Live long and prosper.
In my old apartment I spent a lot of time hanging out with my roommate's dog Archie who I became quite fond of.
My program continued going to trivia at Grandview Cafe (although sporadically during the semester) and even won first place one time! On the final question (which you can wager 0 to 20 points) I wanted to bet 0 because I didn't think we knew the answer. Thankfully I was overruled and we got the question right and won the game.
Another thanksgiving photo. This is potentially the first ever family "selfie" (in my dad's words) and for sure the most awkward.
Here again is a photo of my friends Kiel and JT but this time at a Buckeye Football game. I believe this is against Wisconsin which Ohio State won by 7 points. I also went to the wedding of my friend Mile's who lived next to me my sophomore year in Davenport Iowa. It was a lot of fun but I actually don't have any good photos from it. I actually missed the all "Coe" photo when I went to go get more food. Thankfully we got an all "Lambda Chi" photo that hopefully will surface soon.
Happy New Years everyone!
A few days late but I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I predict 2014 will be an eventful successful year for myself and those around me. Also here is footage of me on New Years Eve

Goodale Park in the snow
Goodale Park is by my new apartment and is a staple of the Columbus Community. Last weekend we had a sizable snowfall and I just happened to be walking past at night to catch a few photos. I came back the next morning to get a few more. Enjoy!
Update
Sorry for the extreme absence in blogging. My apartment did not have internet for over a month and I got out of the habit and never picked it back up. This semester has been absolutely insane but some good things have happened as well. One big thing is I moved to a new apartment once again so there will be some photos soon. On Friday I go back to Minnesota for the first time in a year and am absolutely thrilled to go home for a bit. Unfortunately several days have highs around zero so it will be quite chilly. I will try to update more on my life when I have some free time at home.
