NCAA Tournament update

Proud to say 5 out of my Elite 8 Teams are remaining including all four of my final fours. I am in sole possession of first place in my bracket pool! There's a chance it will not last long but I will savor it for now.
Also another last second three pointer for OSU to advance what a team. So much fun being on campus for these kinds of things.

My trip back to Coe

Me signing the senior wall on the Lambda Chi floor. I meant to do it last time I was back but it didn't happen.

A few photos from the tennis meet. Fellow 2012 graduate Victor Khristenko was there as well and the Augustana Assistant Coach Scott Stegemann (2011) who was my teammate for 3 years was there as well.
Two of my favorite Kohawks Ben Foreman and Alhaji Sesay.

Proud to announce I am the MCDB CGS representative

Today I am proud to announce I was elected my program's College Graduate School representative and will serve next year as our chair. I was somewhat surprised given my difficulty even getting my name on the ballot but am pleased none-the-less. I am also proud to saw that my final four picks have weathered the opening rounds and games and should Florida be Champion I will have a nice little bump in my pay this month. It remains to be seen. I haven't done a bracket the last few years because of NCAA rules and because I thought it was more fun to be an observer for the games. Man was I wrong I had so much more watching with just a few dollars on the line and more importantly bragging rights. Managed to get all of my homework done (and done well it looks like) amid all my basketball viewing and the USA's victory in the snow over Costa Rica.

USA vs Mexico in Columbus!

So the US National Soccer team just released the list of the rest of their home sites for the World Cup Qualifiers and Columbus got the game vs Mexico! Needless to say I am super excited and will be getting a group of friends to go. In addition I got tickets to a game vs Belgium in May in Cleveland with a few friends so that should be sweet as well. I must get more America gear to be prepared

NCAA tournament

So March Madness is upon us. I didn't really notice the bracket coming out (or OSU winning the Big Ten) since I was driving back from Iowa. I did however just fill out my bracket and enter a tournament with my program. My final 4 picks are Duke, Ohio State, Florida, and Syracuse with Florida toping Duke in the final. None of my final 4 picks are number 1 seeds which is concerning but I think Indiana will go down, I think Duke can beat Louisville, I don't think Gonzaga deserves to be a number 1 seed, and I had Florida as my pick to win it all so Kansas had to fall. Defense wins championships (ie Florida) and they have some tradition. I also have #12 Oregon reaching the sweet 16. It is somewhat criminal they are even a #12 seed to begin with. I will try to get lots of hw done when I'm not watching so I can watch the games.
Let the madness begin! (Also the final is on my bday so it should be a good time).

One of my favorite quotes

I think this is a really awesome quotes. Through experience peoples view's should evolve over time.

Spring Break

So my Spring Break hasn't gone according to plan so much but there some good things have happened and will continue to happen. I didn't get to go home as I originally had hoped but I will be heading to Coe tomorrow to hang out for a few days and watch the tennis meets. I went out with some friends Friday night and played 3 hours of outdoor tennis Sunday which in all honesty was far too much but people just kept asking me to play with them. The downside was my Developmental professor finally gave us the homework on Saturday he had promised us Friday and it was much more extensive and difficult then he led us to believe and I spent all of Monday and today doing it while fitting in some lab work. I am still not done but the two answers I have remaining one of them I will just have to pick between two choices and the other I need some thought. I was hoping to use spring break as a time to work on my grant proposal but it appears that is not to be. Perhaps I will ponder it at Coe while friends are in classes. Another downer is my name was not put on the ballot for our program's College Graduate Delegate originally and although it was fixed I think a lot of people already voted. We will see though. It's frustrating because the system put me under the Accounting program instead of my own. Anyway things go on. I am beginning to realize graduate school is somewhat of a daily battle. There are many setbacks of varying degrees. I think the key however is to obviously keep moving forward and to celebrate even your minor victories when you get them. I am my views will evolve over time as they generally do.
Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. I definitely am and I hope to be riding my bike again soon.

5000 blog views!

Today I received my 5000th blog views! Thank you to everyone for viewing. I have been trying to post but the multimedia upload has been defective lately so I will try to post some other things for your viewing pleasure. As for personal life updates, today is my last day of class before spring break begins. Spring break in grad school isn't quite the same (no Florida tennis trip) as I'll be sticking around and working through Wednesday but then I will head back to Coe for a long weekend which happens to also be St. Pattrick's day. I actually have a lot of homework to get done so hopefully my motivation will return which left me after the half semester of classes finished. Again thanks for viewing everyone I appreciate it. Even the haters.
Also feel free to leave comments and/or feedback. You can leave them even without an account

Winter storms!

So last night I went to trivia night (did you know Martin Van Buren was the first President actually born in the United States? I picked Andrew Jackson incorrectly) in Grandview with some of my classmates. It was a lot of fun (new tradition) but this so called "snow-pocalypse" hit while I was still there. A 10-15 minute drive turned into a 45 minute one as I was strolling down Olengtangy River Road without even putting my foot on the gas pedal. Seriously Columbus drivers it was not that bad. Turned out to be just a few inches. Anyway I snapped this photo of my courtyard when I got back.

Attempt at IM sports #2 canned

So my program, MCDB, tried to make a co-ed indoor soccer team. It looked like a lot of fun games once a week in the ARC but unfortunately I was unaware of the level of enthusiasm at this school for IM sports. I tried to sign up after lunch on the day of registration and found to my dismay the league was already full and the waiting list was already 10 teams long. Since registration closed and the league was established it looks like once again I have been thwarted in my attempt to play Rec Sports (refer to my failure to previously join the tennis team for more information). This summer I swear we will get a team together. There's also rumored to be a kickball league we might be joining if anyone in the area is interested...
